Margo Jackson is a graduate of the Creative Writing course at Bath Spa University. Her outstanding debut novel THE MARK tells the story of a friendless, but street-wise fifteen year old girl, Jacqueline, and an equally lonely but older man Colin Locke who make contact in an internet chat room for disfigured people and form an online
friendship. He has a facial birth mark and she has a butterfly tattooed across her neck. Jackson’s narrative extends way beyond these virtual boundaries however to reveal the stories of Colin and Jacqueline’s lives, and is compellingly readable as it gathers momentum towards its shocking and tragic conclusion.
