Andrew Goodfellow at Ebury has struck a deal with David Smith at Annette Green Authors’ Agency for a comic memoir by Tim Bradford, whose previous books include Is Shane McGowan Still Alive? and The Groundwater Diaries for Flamingo. The book, provisionally titled SmallTown, tells the story of Bradford’s teenage years in the Lincolnshire town of Market Rasen in the late 70s and early 80s.‘This is one of the funniest books I’ve come across in an age, and it’s also incredibly true’, says Smith. He continues, ‘it’s a book in which a whole generation can share the reflection of authentic experience, and which our children might one day read to understand what a bizarre foreign country we lived in as youngsters’.
Bradford is a professional cartoonist and illustrator whose work has been widely published in the national media.Ebury acquired UK and Commonwealth rights and will publish in early 2010.
