Mandy Sutter
Mandy’s first novel is THE WONDERFUL SCENT OF CUT WOOD set in Leeds and Zurich, and it tells the story of Margaret Summers, who has led a Mills & Boon life style – until her 40th birthday, when she decides she must take matters in hand. Living with and looking after her ailing Mother Alicia, Margaret has camouflaged herself in layers of fat and the wrong job. But everything is about to change. What happens when a fat, lonely, forty year old virgin places a lonely hearts ad?
This is a compassionate, bitter-sweet novel with sublime, complex, characterisation and faultless, page-turning storytelling which will appeal to that vast area of the market who no longer want to read ‘chick-lit’ or stories about badly behaved twenty-somethings.
Mandy completed the novel as part of her MA in Writing at Sheffield Hallam University and was awarded a distinction.
